WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jan 7, 2025 – USA Guided Tours joins the nation in mourning the loss of former President Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, who passed away at the age of 100. President Carter was the longest-living president in U.S. history, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated public service and unwavering commitment to human rights.

President Carter’s life was one of remarkable achievement and service. A decorated U.S. Navy veteran, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, and tireless advocate for social justice, he embodied the true spirit of American leadership. He was a devoted husband to Rosalynn and a proud father and grandfather who stayed loyal to his Georgian roots. His post-presidency work with Habitat for Humanity exemplified his dedication to improving the lives of others.

Each morning and evening, we at USA Guided Tours embark on our tours from the US Navy Memorial, and while watching President Carter’s funeral procession, we thought of how our company has the privilege of embarking on our tours from this very special place at which President Carter’s Naval service was recalled and honored.

This memorial bears the great weight of history as we are humbled by the sacrifices made by those in our armed forces. Even in our immediate tour family, we have several retired service members in addition to colleagues whose family members have served in the American armed forces.

We always strive to recognize the contributions of those who have shaped our nation, and we never forget that tourists are not just witnessing history, but are a part of it. We hope that our historical tours provide insight and inspiration for many.

With these thoughts, we share our gratitude to the legacy of President Carter. He contributed greatly to the world and will be remembered for carrying the torch of American democracy throughout his long and exemplary life as he leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire us all.
