Hudson Yards and Vessel

Hudson Yards is a neighborhood on the West Side of Midtown Manhattan undergoing a large-scale redevelopment. The largest project is the Hudson Yards real estate development, which includes 16 skyscrapers built over the West Side Rail Yard and is set to complete in 2024. Other significant projects in the area include Manhattan West and 3 Hudson Boulevard. The redevelopment started in earnest in the 2000s, with a master plan issued by the New York City Department of City Planning in 2003. The plan aimed to create 40 million sq ft of commercial and residential development and extend mass transit to the area. In 2005, the New York City Council approved a 60-block rezoning to facilitate the development. A significant landmark in the area is the Vessel, a structure made up of staircases and platforms providing unique views of the city​.
